New to hot yoga?

Ivy League Strength isn’t traditional hot yoga, and it was never meant to be.

I created a small, private Sauna Yoga, strength, mobility and recovery studio for people who want the benefits of yoga without the pressure, pretension or packed-room experience of a traditional studio.

Classes take place inside a purpose-built infrared sauna heated up to 120°F. This isn’t just a warm room. It’s serious heat designed to create meaningful heat stress in the body, the type of thermal stress associated with the body’s heat-shock protein response.

And with a maximum of just 9 people per class, it’s intimate, laid-back and a little unconventional. You can move, sweat, get stronger and work on your mobility without feeling like you have to perform for anyone.

The vibe

Come as you are

You don’t have to be flexible. You don’t have to know yoga. You don’t have to look a certain way. And you definitely don’t have to be perfect.

There’s no judgment here.

Modify anything you need to. Take a break. Sit something out. Leave before meditation if you need to get back to real life.

I’m just happy you made the effort to come to class.

The classes

More than yoga

Depending on the class, you can work on strength, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, mobility, balance and recovery, all while getting the added challenge of exercising inside an infrared sauna.

Easy Stretching

Gentle enough for someone who has never worked out before, but that doesn’t make it a beginner-only class. It’s also a dedicated mobility and recovery day for runners, cyclists, CrossFitters, climbers, weightlifters and other athletes whose bodies could seriously use some stretching.

Fast Funky Flow

Turns things up with a faster-paced, cardio-based yoga class for more seasoned yogis who want to move, sweat and keep their heart rate up.

Buff Bootcamp

Where yoga meets strength training. Expect weights, bands and other equipment mixed with cardio, mobility and stretching. It’s the class for people who want to get a ridiculous amount accomplished in one sweaty session.

Fair warning: this is the have-your-ass-handed-to-you side of Ivy League Strength.

Small classes, big personality

There are only 9 spots per class

You’re not disappearing into the back of a room with 30 or 40 people. I know who comes to class, what people are working on and when someone needs another option.

The lights are low. The music changes. The atmosphere is relaxed. And nobody is handing out gold stars for the prettiest Downward Dog.

This is yoga without the velvet rope.

The heat

Because 120°F is hot enough

I’ve put a lot of thought into the little things that make exercising in serious heat more comfortable.

There’s Sonic ice, triple-filtered water, sugar-free electrolyte popsicles, ice packs and a designated cold spot with a fan, plus easy access to air conditioning and the outdoors whenever you need a break.

Mats, towels and props are available too, because coming to yoga shouldn’t require packing for a weekend trip.

Recovery counts

Training hard is only half the equation

Ivy League Strength also offers Recovery Sessions featuring red light therapy, PEMF and infrared heat, and compression boots.

Whether you’re recovering from lifting, running, cycling, climbing, CrossFit, yoga or simply life beating the hell out of you, sometimes your body needs a recovery day more than it needs another workout.

Welcome home

The Island of Misfit Yogis

Ivy League Strength is for people who don’t necessarily fit the traditional yoga-studio mold.

Beginners. Lifelong yogis. Weightlifters. CrossFitters. Runners. Cyclists. Climbers. Athletes. People who love working out. People who hate working out. People who can fold themselves into a pretzel and people who can barely touch their knees.

You don’t have to become a “yoga person” to belong here.

Just show up as yourself.

Sweat. Get stronger. Move better. Recover. And maybe have a little fun while you’re at it.

Welcome to the Island of Misfit Yogis.

Getting in

  1. The address

720 Bryan Ave, Lexington KY 40505 (👀 Be sure you are entering this address in as Google will take you to the old location! 👀)

    Directions

  2. Look for the green building

It is a small green building with purple doors, glass block windows, a privacy fence, and an overhead door- right on the corner where Loudon and Bryan intersect.

  3. Park

This address takes you to the parking lot. There are 14 spots, plus road parking. If for any reason there are not spots you are allowed to park at the church across the street (you will see a crosswalk) any day except Sunday, usually there are plenty of spots and you can park up both sides of Bryan Ave and Loudon.

  4. Text Ivy as you park

I recommend texting as you park and then ring the doorbell on the gate!

    Text Ivy: I’m parking

  5. Get through the gate

Please only arrive 5 mins before class, the gate only unlocks for 5 seconds (it will flash green) so if you miss it, just ring the doorbell again 😻
